study break
so this weekend was equal parts good and bad. perhaps not equal parts. just parts. anyways, i am taking a little break from studying. i have two finals tomorrow, one at 7:30 and one at 10:00 and then i am done with this semester. hallelujah. after these finals are out of the way, i have much to do, cleaning, packing, finding a summer job, etc. so periodically i zone out and go into this place where i just ponder my time in south america. it's not hard, there's a vast collection of things to remember and reminisce about. i miss the days of taking busses from city to city, dinner being something like one pack of spaghetti eaten by travel mates out of one pot (a borrowed pot from the neighbor nonetheless), by flashlight, with the plastic forks you saved and stashed in your pack, meeting new people from all over the world at every turn, navigating your way through cities or villages you're seeing for the first time...it's bliss. anyways, i love my life here, but man there is nothing like exploring. i guess knowing that i'll be hanging out with my travel buddy sarah on friday has made me think about these things. we will have to make an effort to not talk about chile/bolivia related things the whole time. (it's terribly difficult not to :) I also need to call my host family in Chile when i finish with finals, it has been way way too long since i have called my chilean friends and family. okay, enough of that. i went to the dentist today, it was a blast. i found out that i can finally have my wisdom teeth out (something i've been waiting for cause they hurt!) but i have to go to an oral surgeon because my bottom ones are growing in horizontally (which explains why it aches so much) lovely! the cool part is that i have my very own classy xray photo of all my teeth. between that and see my optic nerve a few weeks ago at the eye doctor, it's been a fun month of medical photos! i must get back to studying: memorizing pieces of classical music and reading about the native nations of the pacific northwest (which makes me want to move there and make my own dug out canoe and swim in the rivers and walk in the mountains and enjoy the 80 inches of yearly rainfall....sigh...beautiful!) buenas noches mis cielitos.
